CSA Czech Airlines Flug von Hamburg nach Prag

Booking the flight was difficult enough as the website of Czech Air produced neither an error message nor a booking. Only a brave third (!) attempt did the job.

When the booked and confirmed flight got cancelled by the airline, the trouble started. They offered another flight - on another day and in doing so have fulfilled their legal obligation. But I wanted the money back. How could I…

First of all they provided an email address that does not exist. So responding to their message was not possible (email: fra@czechairlines.com) Secondly Czech Airline only offers a chargeable phone number in Germany (Tel: 0900-1-001083 (49 ct/Minute aus dem deutschen Festnetz, abweichende Mobilfunkpreise)). Getting in touch with the ones who have my money proved to be difficult.

Finally I managed to call them in Czech Republic asking for a refund.

Well.

Maybe I will have the money in 4 weeks time, which will be about 16 weeks after booking and hence 16 weeks after Czech Airlines have debited my credit card. And I fool thought that banks and leasing companies would be used to finance airline operations. How stupid of mine.

Summary: Cost, effort and distress. No recommendation at all. How could a company like Czech Airlines come to the same level as Ryan Air ?
